Marin County CalGreen Services
A Marin County CalGreen permit is required for all new residential and commercial construction projects.
Green Building is a whole systems approach to construction and building systems that reduces the impact that our buildings has on our environment. Green building also provides many benefits to the homeowner including long term value, reduced energy and water use, reduced maintenance, and a healthier indoor environment.
Marin County is a majestic and unique jewel of northern California. The county sets a high standard in all areas of development and construction in accordance with the high standards set by the residents. These include Mandatory CalGreen Measures such as the capability for electric vehicle charging, permeable paving and CalGreen Green Tier 1 requirements, among many others.
The county’s adoption of the Marin County CalGreen Tier 1 requirements is another level of obligations that your new home must comply with.
It is important to understand that you are not required to comply with every CalGreen requirement. A CalGreen specialist can help you critically review each time on the checklist and only commit your project to those that are absolutely necessary.
The 2019 Marin County code requires a final CalGreen site inspection. This is noted on the CalGreen checklist as the Implementation Verification section. It requires an ICC certified CalGreen special inspector verify that the CalGreen requirements have been met. Once complete, the inspector signs the implementation verification form which is then provided to the building department for your occupancy permit.
CalGreen Commissioning
CalGreen commissioning is required on all new commercial projects over 10,000 square feet. It is important to understand that this requirement does NOT mean you have to pay for a full-blown commissioning process. The California Green Building Standards Code defines what commissioning is required.
Here’s our challenge. Call any specialized commissioning company and get a quote from them. Then call us and get our fee. I can guarantee you will be shocked by the difference. The difference is only paying for what the CalGreen Code requires!
